This Is My Truth

After reading all my classmates blog posts from the Photojournalism and Bias Padlet I can see the cumulative impact it had on everyone. The cumulative impact all these images had was making a statement on Ed Clarke's photograph since it represents plenty of hardships. The cumulative impact of the truths and untruths would be with the truths many of my fellow classmates chose to show off images that were inspirational and raw while the untruths were images that were edited or showed off some type of political lie. The way I responded to my classmates' photos were all through my emotional senses due to the pictures they put for their truths. When looking at Gabriela Baez Santiago's blog post she showed of the image by John Moore for her truth image and I responded emotionally to it because it showed off a young girl watching her mother be detained.

My cumulative impression for this photo and all my classmates' photos was the strong impact it had on my feelings because there is truth within photojournalism. I do feel more confident in knowing what truth for me is because I can point to what I say is a lie. In Morgan Bemont's blog post for her untruth, she showed off a man throwing a burning tear gas and the crowd would automatically think it is bad without knowing the backstory like in this picture with him actually throwing it away to help children. I can agree with this because that helps me know what is more of a truth for me which is knowing the whole story behind situations. After looking at all my classmates post I think I did gain more insight into my own personal bias that have been hidden, masked or unnoticed. When looking at Alicia Aznar Chamorro's blog post she speaks on the importance of noticing the hidden lies within pictures such as with child labor. Just like bias, hidden messages can be masked to make it seem appropriate for the audience when in reality it is not. After looking at all the blog posts I can say I learned even more on how I view the world such as that things can be hidden within a photograph and that the world usually just takes what they see and run with it which is not always good.
